Here’s another cover I created. It’s part of a portfolio I’m putting together, so I can offer my services as a digital artist to authors and publishers.
I wanted a simple look with few colors for this one, yet I was hoping for a striking look. I also wanted the cover art to make an impression, despite the subdued style. What do you think?

I love games. I’ve written a lot of them into my work, but none feature more prominently than the game of Dungeons & Dragons, which was the inspiration for NAUGHTY & DICE.
I know I just shared a snippet last week for Snippet Saturday’s “Magical” theme, but I hope you’ll indulge me one more time…
“You’ve come to an intersection. Both paths are hidden in darkness. Which way do you go?”
Angela Benson took a long sip from her glass of red wine and regarded her brother over the crystal rim. Between them lay a lovingly-drawn map representing a

Dead on the Delta by Stacey Jay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Now THIS is why I read urban fantasy. I want flawed characters, a plot that grips me by the throat and doesn’t let go, fabulous writing… and hey, a love triangle sure doesn’t hurt. I adored Annabelle from the very beginning. “Flawed” doesn’t even begin to describe her. She’s got a ton of demons she’s trying to exorcise (the wrong way, for the most part), but she makes no apologies for who she is and the way she lives her life. My heart ached for her every … Read More »
This theme is a perfect fit for me. I’ve written a number of books with magical themes, so picking an excerpt was tough today. I finally settled on a scene from NAUGHTY & DICE, which is a sexy novella that celebrates my love for all things D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) related. If you’re not a fan of role playing games, no problem! There should be plenty of magic to keep you entertained regardless…
“Strip, warrior, or I’ll do it for you.” She injected more bravado into her voice than she felt. He’d warned her once about having the upper

I’ve been dabbling in digital art for years. It’s a wonderful way to be creative, and it gives me an excuse to play while stepping away from the written word for a while. Lately, I’ve been trying my hand at creating cover art. With the self-publishing world exploding all around me, I thought perhaps I could turn my little hobby into… well, something more.
I’m going to start posting some of my cover art experiments here. I hope you like looking at these as much as I like creating them.
I really love the “splashy”, fun, colorful feel of this … Read More »
Everything’s more intense when it’s done in public. Whether it’s a kiss, an argument, or yes, even hot up-against-the-wall sex, the idea that you might be seen doing it makes it that much more exciting.
For this particular theme, I immediately thought of a scene from STORM’S TEMPEST. The heroine, Tempest, has finally worked up the nerve to walk up to a gorgeous man in a bar. All she wants to do is talk… for now. But he gets the wrong impression, and well, let’s just say that there’s nothing worse than being humiliated in public. Read on to … Read More »
How I Sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months! by John Locke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
There’s been a lot of chatter about this book since it came out. I mean, John’s success is undeniable. What author wouldn’t want to replicate his results? Still, I wasn’t convinced that his way of doing things would work for me. But like hundreds of other writers, I purchased the book because, hey, all I had to lose was $5, right?
Well, I got my money’s worth, and then some. John Locke has put together a concise and easily understandable marketing plan. … Read More »
I have to admit, the things most people find funny go right over my head. I never understood the appeal of the American Pie movies, but The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou had me in stitches. I didn’t crack a single smile during Borat, but I found Bubba Ho-Tep absolutely hilarious. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise when I say I don’t ‘do’ humor. Yet imagine my shock when I started getting emails from readers who insisted they loved the humor in my work.
Umm… say what? I went back to the books in question and started reading … Read More »
